   4 Between the hours of 10 PM to 3 AM this Saturday night, the scripts
   5 servers will be moved to a new UPS and network connection. This
   6 should not cause a noticeable disruption in the web scripts or mail
   7 scripts service. There may be a brief disruption of the SQL service
   8 as it is moved. (If you see a website that reports that it cannot
   9 connect to the database, try reloading the page in a few seconds.)
  10 All services run on redundant servers for reliability, so it is
  11 expected that we will be able to avoid interrupting the services
  12 while we complete the move. However, in the event of an unforeseen
  13 failure, there may be a longer outage (15 minutes or more) for the
  14 duration of the move.

  16 Updates to service status will be posted on IS&T’s
  17 [3down website](http://3down.mit.edu/). Messages will also be sent
  18 to zephyr instance “consult”. (To subscribe to this instance, type
  19 **zctl sub message consult \\\*** on Athena. You may need to run
  20 **zwgc -ttymode** first, if you are logged in remotely.)

  22 The scripts.mit.edu services have been designed with reliability in
  23 mind, and we are taking extra technical measures to reduce and
  24 hopefully eliminate downtime related to Saturday night’s move.
  25 However, we are not in a position to make service guarantees, and
  26 scripts should not be used to run critical applications that cannot
  27 tolerate downtime. (Recall that every Sunday morning at 6 am, there
  28 is a 10-minute outage for sites from the athena.mit.edu AFS cell
  29 when the AFS servers restart.)

  32 [scripts-announce](http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/scripts-announce)
  33 mailing list, a low-traffic Mailman list open to the public. (The
  34 list receives less than one message per month on average.)
