Yeast Cake

This recipe is due to Iza, Dani's Wachs's Aunt.


  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 3/4 cup + 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 packet yeast
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp (?) cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt


  • proof the yeast in the milk, water and teaspoon of sugar
  • mix the egg yolks, flour, 1/2 cup sugar, salt together in a bowl, let rise a few hours chilled
  • after dough rises, beat the eggs whites with the sugar and cinnamon
  • spread out the dough into a "leaf" and spread the whip on the dough
  • roll the leaf and cut into 2 cylinders and place with spiral facing up in pan (baking pan with hole is best)
  • preheat oven to 350F/170C
  • let rise for 1/2 an hour and bake for another 1/2 hour or so
