Maple Walnut Scones

Ingredients:
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cups butter
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- Preheat oven to 425 deg. F
- Combine dry ingredients and mix together well
- Add butter and mix until coarse crumbs are created
- Separately, combine milk and syrup
- Add wet ingredients to dry ones to form wet dough
- Flour surface generously
- Divide dough in half
- Pat down each half into 7 inch circles about 7/8 inches thick
- Cut dough circles into 8 even pieces (like pie)
- Move slices onto greased baking sheet setting them so they re-form the original circle shape (slightly separated)
- Pierce with fork and brush with maple syrup
- Bake until golden (12-14 min) and brush with maple syrup again
(a variation can be made by adding lemon zest to the dough)
