QUESTIONS
These are some factual questions about education and enabling technologies, which we want to know answers for. Feel free to update if you know any answer or have a question you want to be answered.
We have been reading papers to get a broad idea of the field to understand it. This is one strategy, where we allow the literature to speak to introduce us to the field landscape. A second strategy at this point could be to ask the relevant questions and try to find their answers in the literature. These questions are *relavant* because they fill the missing holes in our understanding, are a precursor to a solution, etc.

This Section is a effort in this direction
1. Government of India has three levels of salary for teachers. A. Elementary, B. Secondary, C. Higher Secondary. These are technically called PGT, TGT, SGT. I think the qualifications are BsC, BEd (1), MsC, BEd (2), MsC, BEd, Exp (3). The salaries in hand are approx 10K pm (A), 15K pm (B), 20K(C). I am looking for concrete figures on this: qualifications and salary. (Varun)
2. How does the salary at private schools compare with these salary standards set by GOI. (Varun)
3. What is the fee p.m. for a government school in city and in village. (Varun)
4. What is the fee p.m. range for private school say in Delhi (big city) and say in Kanpur (small city). (Varun)
5. What is the price of setting up say a school of 10 classrooms with capacity of 50 students in each class. (not to include cost of land, books and teachers, basically building cost and infrastructure cost (blackboards, cupboards, table, chairs, chalks, lighting, etc.)) (Varun)
6. Total number of children under 12 in India, vs. total govt expenditure on free and compulsary education. (Varun)
7. How well are Indian villages connected on the wireless network. I think mobile phone network (specially by reliance) is pretty pervasive and reaches every nook and corner of the country. Is this correct, what is the percent coverage? (varun)
8. What infrastructure and technology is needed to use the network for internet connection? What is the infrastructure cost for setting internet connection on a single PC? Can it support 'video-on-demand' right now? (Varun)
9. Are there any systematic documentation of best/good practices of grassroots initiatives in arranging elementary education in communities not being served (or underseverd) by the government or the private sector? (Anirban)
