Research in the MIT Paleomagnetism Laboratory focuses on interdisciplinary problems in planetary science, geology and geophysics. Current topics include the history of the lunar dynamo, asteroid differentiation, early solar system magnetism and planet formation, the Martian dynamo and climate, the earliest history of Earth's magnetic field, the paleomagnetism of impact craters, and instrumentation development including SQUID microscopy.
