Members

We have roughly 40 house members each year, excluding RDC (Happy Kwanzaa!).
Currently, 6 countries, 20 states, 14 majors , and all 4 class years represented
Our members are active in many organizations on campus, including a variety of varsity sports teams AND intramural teams (football, crew, track and field, pistol, taekwondo, ultimate frisbee, basketball, and volleyball to name a few), American Medical Student Association, Society of Women Engineers, MIT Chamak Dance Team, MIT Toons a cappella group, and a whole lot of other stuff that we can't remember right now.

Activities

We hold study breaks every week, organized by our social chairs and GRT. Study breaks in the past have included everything from BYOB (Build Your Own Burrito) to yogurt parfaits to crepes to ice cream sundaes
We have two big dinner banquets each year - Holiday Dinner and Senior Dinner - that all house members participate in to organize, set up, and cook!
We also have two House Trips each year, one each semester. Past trips have included Martha's Vineyard, Newport, RI, Apple Picking in Western Mass., Davis Cornfield Megamaze, Salem, Mass, Canoeing, and Horseback Riding.
In addition to these big events, we love to do spur-of-moment things such as hopping on the bus down to Harvard Square for a quick meal, or grabbing a bunch of people for a movie or for game night, or the occasional snowball fight in the winter time.

House 4 Government

We are a very active House and encourage all members to take a role in house government, not only within House 4 but also in the housewide New House government
We have over 15 positions, some shared by multiple people. Anyone who wants to get involved has the opportunity to!
Some of our most creative and unique positions are:

  • Cookie Chairs : as the title suggests, surprises the house with baked cookies; we like to have as many of these as possible!
  • WINK Chair : rents movies requested by house members
  • House Glue : holds the house together by putting together a weekly calendar of events as well as organizing small outings such as for movies or dinners

Facilities

Our House takes up Floors 3, 4, and 5 of the House 4 entryway (Floor 2 is Spanish House)
Of our 31 rooms, 25 are singles and 6 are doubles or triples
We have an eating area with 3 kitchens, fully equipped with stoves, ovens, microwaves, sinks, and refrigerators for common use

The brand-new study lounge (finished in Summer 2005) is right on the 1st floor of House 4
Like the rest of New House, each room has air - conditioning and heat , which can be adjusted by the person in the room
