This week MITBDT nominated our own Ron Hoffmann for the MIT Unsung Hero Excellence Award for his continual behind-the-scenes support of the team. Out of his own initiative, he's run the team's weekly Standard Runthroughs, managed the team's music library, provided countless A/V support for the team and our competition, and in general has been the wise word of wisdom with rare acknowledgement for his efforts. MIT made an outstanding showing at the 2008 Harvard Beginners competition. Despite tough competition, numerous MIT rookie couples proved to be up to the task, and several vet couples placed in and won Bronze and Silver events. Jeff & Hannah on the floor
We also claimed first place in the Rookie-Vet Team Match, a position we've maintained for several years running. Check out the results. The Redoubtable "Team K"

2009 MIT Open Show Couple: Jonathan and Hazel! |

We are thrilled to announce our show couple for the 2009 MIT Open Competition: Professional Standard dancers Jonathan Wilkins and Hazel Newberry!
Jonathan and Hazel formed a new partnership just last year, in October 2007. They began competing that November, and placed second overall at the Blackpool Closed 2007. Since then, they have continued to place among the top three couples in competitions around the world. We look forward to seeing them perform at the MIT Open before they head back to England to compete at the Blackpool Dance Festival in May.

Rob and Trang jumpin' and jivin' at Masqerade The MIT Ballroom Dance Team is proud to annouce another monthly social dance! We will be collaborating with the MIT Ballroom Dance Club. There will be a free beginner lesson (with admission) at 7:30 pm. Who: All ages, open to the general public.
Where: Morss Hall, Walker Memorial (MIT Building 50, 142 Memorial Dr., Cambridge)
When: 8pm - midnight, Saturday, October 11 (Beginner Lesson at 7:30pm) Cost: $10 General Admission, $8 Club members, $6 Students, 50% off for team members
