I guess I haven’t posted as much as I originally intended when term started, so here’s a little update.
My classes have been going really well so far. While I occasionally get agitated about being in 8.01 again, the freshmen keep me fairly amused, and the workload isn’t bad. I honestly kind of enjoy the problem solving strategies that are employed in the course. 24.900 is interesting, although the p-sets are kind of annoying and repetitive. They definitely help one remember the material, but this is the first class at MIT I’ve taken that relies on significant amounts of memorization. 6.02 and 6.002 are awesome so far. In 6.02 we have covered basic signal topics such as Fourier transforms, AM, I/Q, and digital modulation. By the end of the course, we will understand how to transmit packets via a wireless network, and efficiency decisions associated with that. 6.002 is basic analog and digital circuits, and we’re just starting non-linear devices now.
Other than classes, I will be continuing my UROP from the summer for the Fall Term. There are a few new projects lined up along with the ones already in progress. I’m in Badminton again, which is fun as always. Concert band has started, too, and we have a fall concert during family weekend (Oct 13th). I’m also currently running for UA Senator for East Campus, and if I’m elected I’ll spend time in Senate meetings and on at least one committee.
I finished both High Fidelity and also The Average American Male. The two were pretty similar, and entertaining.
There is a 24.900 test this Thursday, and then I’m going home for the long weekend (Fri afternoon - Tue evening). I have class at 9am, though, so it’s about time to be off to bed.
(P.S. If these entries were less of a mind-dump, they’d be way better organized and less all over the place.)
