In an attempt to build my “online presence” in the writing community, I’m thinking of writing more blog entries having to do with the craft of writing. These would include book reviews, plot analyses, random writing related thoughts, the snarls that I’m currently working out in my novel, etc… My question is — should I put these in a separate blog? This might make sense because I assume most of my current readership is more interested in reading about Jeff and my latest smackdowns than musings about character development. I’m also thinking that current writers who come to this blog might be confused by its random nature. Or would it be better to keep everything in one blog? What do people think?

Currently, I’ve been treating all my online mediums as the same thing. I’ll post something to my blog, then echo it to xanga, facebook, twitter, and paste it to my gmail status message. It’s convenient and allows people to follow me any way they like, but the downside is that the messages usually come out in a weird format on facebook and twitter. I’ve been thinking of separating things into two streams. Short daily updates will get broadcast to gmail status, twitter, and facebook, and my blog and xanga would be reserved for longer, actual blog posts. Does anyone have any preferences either way?
