the last broadcast (and playlist)

Today is the last official broadcast of the Wednesday morning radio show A Distorted Reality, on WMBR, Cambridge 88.1FM. Hopefully listeners have enjoyed the past year that the show was on the air—we laughed, we cried, and we kicked out the jams—but it’s time for the show to take a backseat while I take care of some untimely requirements involved in completing my graduate studies here at MIT (i.e., I have to write a masters thesis in the next few months and the 6am weekly time slot had become counterproductive).

If you enjoyed the diverse styles and genres of “independent,” non-major label music that I played on A Distorted Reality, don’t fret, I’m still going to be on the air every other Wednesday during the upcoming spring season hosting the Breakfast of Champions, where I’ll be alternating weeks with BoC DJ Mary. I know it’s not quite the same, and it’s at a different time, but it’ll have to do for now. There’s a possibility that A Distorted Reality will make a fantastic return when the summer rolls around, so stay tuned for that, and also, take note that my future playlists for BoC will likely appear here as well! (And perhaps some blog posts about cool happenings in “independent” music… if I can shake off my proclivity for being extremely lazy.)
