I went to the second session of MIT’s IAP screen printing class last night and I finally pulled out the squeegees and got to work! My first prints are of Wurtle, the wireless turtle, and the LittlePirateShip. Next step are shirts! and a giant squid to complement LPShip.

New communications
A while back I designed some t-shirts for the viral communications group which ended up not panning out — a caveman using a turtle as a cellphone doesn’t really exude “awesome technology!”. But one of the things that came out of it was the Wireless Turtle.
A couple weeks ago, KS convinced me to buy a coupon for 50% off a canvas print from mypix2canvas, so I tweaked the turtle a little and sent my order in. It arrived yesterday!

csail olympics 2011!
csail organizes the CSAIL Olympics every year, which is always a blast, and ends with awesome videos that some participants wish won’t see the light of the internet. Regardless, this year’s theme is “Not So Super Villains!”, and I helped design the logos and tshirts.

Violent by Design
After a 4 year hiatus, school I started getting back into rap and hip hop in Grad School. Searching on lastfm for artists similar to Immortal Technique, I found Jedi Mind Tricks — a diabolical mix of head knocking beats, awesome samples and disgusting lyrics:
I don't know how many kids my flow harms
My gun control leave y'all with no arms
Yall love to smell the stench of dead bodies
Left in the path of the Paz & Khadafi
and one of my favorite samples (in Animal Rap)
I like to shout barbarian style like an executor
Though I slightly prefer Visions of Gandhi in terms of songs, Violent By Design has, by far, the best album cover.
Also, note to self: Don’t draw things with a jungle in the background >_<
