This list is a Mailman list - see the administration site for editing the list. As of September 2007, Gergana is updating the list - other administrators are Beth, Darcy, and Paola. Mailman lists can be limited to members-only, thereby eliminating spam.

Who is on the list?

Log in to mailman (see bottom of page) to see who is on the list, although read below for more details and options from user accounts on how to get a list of everyone on the chickvb Mailman list:

Method one is to go to the “roster” page. This won’t show any members
who have chosen to have their addresses hidden, but most people don’t
do that. This page is:

http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/roster/LISTNAME

(fill in your own list name).

The second method is to use the “mmblanche” program on Athena:

athena% add consult
athena% mmblanche listname

Or, if you want to save it to a text file, something like

athena% mmblanche listname > filename.txt

I’ve written a variant of the mmblanche program which pulls out the
names of the users in addition to their email addresses; it’s in my
own locker rather than the consult locker, and you’d run it like so:

athena% add boojum
athena% nameblanche listname

or

athena% nameblanche listname > filename.txt

How do I update the permissions to the entire list?

Change the wvc-officers list from mailing-lit only to “group” (it can be done from listmaint, option #3 of the main menu). Then you can use the fs commands:

fs sa /afs/athena.mit.edu/activity/c/chickvb system:wvc-officers all

to give all rights to the group wvc-officers (notice that if a list is not a
group you cannot give it any file-access permisssion). More info on:
