The per person cost of the bailout, so far…
So far, we the taxpayers on are on the hook for $8.5 trillion. Some of that might get paid back, but nonetheless, we’re at risk for it, and it’s likely we’ll never get it all back. There’s also no evidence that it’s working all that well. Credit markets are still tied up.
Only half the country pays any federal taxes. So, that leaves 150 million people to pay for it. To avoid the further complexity of how the taxes are distributed among those folks, lets just assume that we’re all equally responsible for it. That’s over $56,000 for each American who pays taxes, and that’s just in about three months. Angry yet?








Can I just write the federal government a check for the 56 large and then not ever pay taxes again?
